Miscellaneous Space Projects

In addition to the main projects listed on my home page, here are a few other things I'm involved in...

Hamilton Astronomical Society

Hamilton Astronomical Society
I'm currently president of the Hamilton Astronomical Society. My duties include helping to run the day-to-day operations of Hamilton Observatory, running public nights and group bookings, editing the monthly bulletin and promoting astronomy throughout the Waikato region.

Software Development
I don't have a lot of time for this right now, but I do dabble in making software and customizing open source astronomy applications, most notably Celestia and Stellarium. I've also made a few little utilities and I'm working on a SQL database of celestial objects.

Space Trading
I'm slowly building a supply of things I can sell in a space shop, and I've reserved the domain spaceshop.co.nz. One day I hope to get this side business up and running but it's in the very long-term planning stage.

Venus Transit, June 2012
In June 2012 there will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Venus transit the Sun from New Zealand. I'm currently working on ways to take advantage of this event and share it with others.

Total Solar Eclipse, November 2012
I'll be traveling to Port Douglas, Australia, to observe this eclipse.
